What I saw today..

Today whilst enjoying the sunny seaside atmosphere of Brighton, I visited this public exhibition on the sea front. As you can see from the pictures it's a collection of wildlife photography- taken by lots of different people. Although photography is something I haven't practised enough yet, I still appreciate the brilliant quality of the images- the composition of a picture can really effect your reaction.

I also liked the way each image was displayed, subtle typography and a simple black frame compliment the richness of the images well. The exhibition overall was designed to suit any one who may pass. I loved the user friendly helpful details; the earth map info graphic points out where in the world the image was taken; the description of the way it was taken is useful and interesting to help you relate to the photographer's thought; there were also questions you can ask yourself or silly facts that would appeal to a family audience with kids. There were boards with general information related to the exhibition too, one was about using shutter speed and aperture to maximise an image's effect which was really useful for me because i've wondered many a time what those settings on my camera were for! I've been meaning to look into it... now I know! A bit anyway. I did a really quick, basic test with the shutter speed on the way home. The difference is massive so I can't wait to test it on something useful.
